The coastal resorts get written about. Loulé gets lived in — and for buyers relocating rather than holidaying, that distinction is the whole decision.

Infrastructure that exists in February

Hospital, schools, municipal services, a covered market that is still the best in the region on a Saturday morning. If you are moving here full time rather than visiting for August, that matters more than a sea view.

Views without the coastal premium

The hills above the town produce long southerly views back down to the coast, and the plots are considerably larger for the money than anything comparable on the front line.

The trade-off

You are driving to the beach — fifteen minutes, but driving. For a holiday-let investor that changes the rental proposition. For a permanent resident, most find it stops mattering within a month.
