Living in Tavira
Tavira has a beautiful historic centre with wide cobbled avenues, shady plazas and a maze of narrow streets full of boutique shops, family-run restaurants and bars where you can sit outside for most of the year.
There is a long history here and a strong Moorish influence on the town's architecture, including its distinctive four-sided rooftops. The Roman bridge over the Gilão still carries foot traffic.
The beach is reached by ferry across the Ria Formosa, which keeps it quiet. Property is townhouses in the centre, apartments along the river, and villas in the countryside behind.
