Alvor is built around its estuary, and the boardwalk that runs out across the salt marsh is one of the loveliest walks on this stretch of coast.
The old village is narrow-streeted and busy in summer, with a long line of restaurants along the quay where you can watch the fishing boats come and go with a drink in your hand.
Property is mostly apartments and townhouses in and around the village, with resort developments and villas towards Prainha and the Alvor Praia headland.
